The newest business syndrome on the Balkans – wine and tourism – becomes the hot topic for the second edition of Balkan International Wine Competition.
The Balkans International Wine Competition (BIWC) has been one of a kind and it has reached worldwide popularity since its first edition held in May 2012. This year the BIWC scenario will demonstrate a great business synergy by connecting Balkans wine and tourism.
The BIWC 2013 Competition is scheduled for May 16th (Thursday) & May 17th (Friday) (not open for public) while the BIWC 2013 Festival follows through on May 18th (Saturday) & May 19th (Sunday) (open for public) at Grand Hotel Sofia, Bulgaria, where actually all the present wine lovers will have the chance to taste different Balkan wines accompanied with typical domestic food products.
Conference on Wine and Wine Tourism on the Balkans – Possibilities of Development and Synergy will be held on May 17th (Friday) with the support of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This Conference is one of the leading elements of this year’s BIWC program. Its goal is to demonstrate to the international business elite the effectiveness of relationship between Dionysius elixir and the distinctive tourism resources within the Balkans and consequently how to successfully promote the entire region.
The Conference shall be attended by the representatives of numerous Balkan Trade Chambers, Balkan wine associations, leading international tourist agencies and tour operators, various winemakers, globally renowned wine professionals as well as the representatives of the wine industry from Bulgaria and the Balkan region.
Specialized Trade Tasting was designed for the BIWC 2013 judicial panel, importers, buyers, distributors, ambassadors, Bulgarian Council, commercial attachés, wine journalists and bloggers, and it is scheduled for May 18, 2013 (Saturday) from 11:00 to 13:00 also at Grand Hotel Sofia, Bulgaria. The BIWC organization committee strives for placing the Balkan wine at its proper position globally. Branding and promotion wines from Balkans shall help positioning these wines at their deserved place – not only on the major wine markets but also on a table of great many winelovers worldwide.
Master classes and lectures will be in the heart of the BIWC2013 Festival follows through on May 18th (Saturday) & May 19th (Sunday) at Grand Hotel Sofia, Bulgaria.The main purpose of the above is to create close relationship between wine lovers and Balkan wine wealth. The classes will be presented by famous worldwide wine experts like Christy Canterbury MW (USA), Taner Ogutoglu (Turkey), Konstantinos Lazarakis MW (Greece) and Saša Špiranec (Croatia). Among the lecturers there will be figures like Andreas Wickhoff MW (Austria), Jamie Goode (UK ), Alessandro Griccioli (Italy ), Luiz Alberto (USA) and Dusan Jelic (Serbia).
The development of the economic association between the Balkans and the rest of the world has been an essential part in discovering and properly evaluating the Balkan wines. The second edition of the BIWC will be the launching platform for great Balkans wines in their quest for the successful penetration in all of the major international markets. Our efforts in international wine marketing shall help in positioning the Balkan wines at the right place, namely together with the wines from other famous global winegrowing regions.
