Welcome to 14th edition of BIWC 2025
Igor Lukovic – BIWC Chairman – The Balkan International Wine Competition is the best proof of how dynamic the Balkan wine scene is and how great the quality of the wines from the region actually is. This great Competition is growing for the last 14 years along with the development of winemaking and the potential is still huge. Over the past years, it has become a rule that wines that are first recognized at the BIWC later receive recognition from much larger world competitions and become iconic. The reason for this lies in the dedicated work of the entire BIWC team led by Galina Niforou, as well as in the careful selection of experienced and well respected international wine judges from all over the world. It is a real honor to lead such a competition. This year, BIWC is going in the legendary land of Xinomavro – Naoussa, Greece, which I’m sure will bring a new quality to the Competition. Good luck to the Balkan wines in the 14th BIWC 2025!
Eng. Galina Niforou, Wine MBA – BIWC Managing Director – The Balkan International Wine Competition is developing and looking for new opportunities for synergy between Balkan wine producers. Since the creation of the competition, our goal has been to make a platform that is useful both for Balkan wineries, and for professionals and consumers to understand the improving quality of Balkan wines and specificities of the indigenous Balkan grape varieties.
And now, on the eve of the 14th edition, BIWC is launching an important international conference, whose participants will set the path of development of Balkan wine for the next 15 years. Good luck to the 1st BIWC Conference: BALKAN WINE 2040 – Vision & Perspective, Naoussa 2025!
