Trophy for best white wine from indigenous variety – Posip Volarevic 2015, Croatia
Trophy for best red wine from indigenous variety – Xinomavro, Ramnista 2012, Kir Yanni, Greece
Trophy for best dessert wine from indigenous variety – Grasa de Kotnari 2000 Cotnari, Romania
Stefan Bozhkov, chairman of the commission, together with the members Emanuela Kovac and Emil Maslarski, has given his assessment of best wine label design for the second consecutive year.
The Trophy is dedicated to the memory of the Bulgarian artist Kolio Karamfilov, who is the designer of the BIWC Grand Trophy.

Gold medal- Rossidi, family labels, Bulgaria
Silver Medal – Saga, Vinarija Bjelica, Serbia
Bronze medal – Deuric, family labels, Serbia
Total awarded gold medals of BIWC 2016 are 41 – 14 for Bulgaria, 9 for Greece, 1 Israel, 2 for Macedonia, 1 for Montenegro, 4 for Romania , 8 for Serbia and 2 for Turkey.
Balkan wine festival was opened by the event organizers Galina Niforou and Konstantinos Lazarakis. Exhibitors and guests of the Forum were welcomed by Radoslav Radev, Chairman of National Vine and Wine Chamber and Krasimir Koev , CEO of executive Agency of Vine and Wine.
Gala dinner and awards ceremony was attended by the ambassador of Israel Mrs. Irit Lilian, Mrs. Anna Sendova, board member of BCCI, many foreign guests from Japan, Serbia, Greece, Albania, Italy, Turkey, Georgia, Israel and the international jury of BIWC 2016.
