Invitation for BIWC 2012, Sofia, Bulgaria, June 14-17, 2012 ( English)

Dear Sir/Madame,

I would kindly like to invite you to participate to the first edition of THE BALKANS INTERNATIONAL WINE COMPETITION, which will be held in Sofia from 14-17 June 2012 in Grand Hotel Sofia. The BIWC is open to wine producers from all countriesof the Balkan Peninsula.

Why the Balkans?

The BALKANS can be proud of the most ancient wine history in the world. With nearly 1.8 million tons wine production per year, the BALKANS ranks 5th in the world, right after the largest wine producing countries Italy, France, Spain and USA. For the last decade the BALKANS mades ​​enormous progressin the quality of its wines and can state its claims as a key player on the world wine map.

Why to participateto BIWC?

THE BALKANS INTERNATIONAL WINE COMPETITON is the first important step toward promoting the Balkan wines as a region in the world wine market

THE BALKANS INTERNATIONAL WINE COMPETITION is a chance to participate to the Master Classes and lectures , showing the best of Balkan wines and latest trends in the wine trade, international wine business, wine marketing, etc., held by the renown BIWC Jury.

Who will judge your wines on the BIWC?

For the first time the Balkan wines will be tasted and judged by some of the greatest  of Wine like the Chairman of the BIWC Konstantinos Lazarakis MW – The only one Master of Wine in the Balkans, Caroline Gilby MW – United Kingdom, Christy Canterbury MW – USA, Paul Liversedge MW – Switzerland and many more helping this way to build the positive image of the Balkan wines within the world.

The jury will choose a winner in each of the following categories:dry white wine, dry red wine, dry rosé wine, sparkling wineand dessert wine. The winner in each category will be awarded a special trophy.

Winning the Grand Trophy

The Grand Trophy of the Balkans International Wine Competition will be awarded independently of category, and to the wine that our international jury deems to be the finest, most desirable and most marketable wine presented at the competition.

How to participate to the BIWC?

Dear wine producers,

As 2 in 1 platform, the BIWCwill give you the opportunity first to participate in the BIWC Competition (14-15 June) by sending samples and second to exhibit your wines at the BIWC Festival (16-17 June).

The BIWC Festival is a meeting point  for world wine experts, Masters of Wine, wine merchants, wine journalists and bloggers from the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, India, the Scandinavian countries, Italy, Germany, Belgium, all the Balkan countries,  among others.

BIWC Entry Fees

The BIWC Competition fee is 60 euro per entry.

The BIWC Festival fee is 450 euro per winery.

Register early to participate at BIWC’s special discount rates!

      All wine producers who register and submit proof of payment by or on 10 May 2012, will receive 2 discounts:

• 100 Euro off the Festival entry fee (350 instead of 450 Euro)
• 10 Euro off per entry for the Competition (50 instead of 60 Euro)

For the convenience of all participants at the BIWC Festival!

Each exhibitormay present its wines and consider supplying 6 bottles of each wine. the BIWC offers secure storage for your product until the Festival. If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity, please ship your product to the same address at any time after registration but within the specified deadline.

Participants who choose to not ship their product to the Festival’s headquarters in advance must have it delivered to the exhibition hall SOFIA, Grand Hotel Sofia at 9:00AM on 16 June, 2012 (Saturday).
