𝐎𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐮 𝐌𝐚𝐱𝐢𝐦 - 𝐉𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐁𝐈𝐖𝐂
Born and raised in Salaj County, Romania. Ovidiu’s passion for wine began when his grandfather took him to the family vineyard and taught him about the grapes, the vine and later about the art of winemaking. His passion for vines was so strong that he pursued Viticulture and Enology College, followed by his degree and master’s degree in Agronomic Science, at USAMV Cluj-Napoca. Being passionate and wishing to find more about wine, he joined a training in Tuscany for red wines and in New Zeeland for the love of Sauvignon Blanc. Today, Ovidiu is the chief winemaker of La Salina Winery, in Turda, Cluj County. Ovidiu’s talent has garnered medals and awards like, Best of Show Romania in 2021 and Best Trophy Rose in 2022 at BIWC, Double Gold and Gold Medals. During the past few years, he was selected as a member of the judging team in the national and international contest, including BIWC in 2023. During his time as an enologist, Ovidiu wore a variety of hats. From managing and training harvest staff, to conducting and managing the administrative part of the winery. Ovidiu lives in Cluj-Napoca, Heart of Transylvania, together with his wife and daughter. When he’s not in the vineyard or winery, he enjoys cooking and sharing fine wine and cold beer with family and friends.
